Option 4 is probably the best, perhaps with the option of auto-resolving them & turn limits during the battle itself to ensure it runs along smoothly. If both players agree to auto-resolve then the AI can just handle it, else they fight.

You are "Introducing" the 3D space combat into a 4x Game PLEASE note that probably most spaceships as most ships on the sea are NO WARSHIPS and most ports/stations have weak military capabilities. Yes, but all the logistics stuff is basically handwaved away as your stockpile of freighters...

Yeah, the Felidians are closest in terms of looks. For racial bonuses though... hmm. Brutas & Skribdis are the most militaristic races MORE has.

I think the plan for space combat is for there to be a nice big selection of possible weapons. For ground combat, I suspect that, like MoO2, it'll be pretty simple, though IIRC there are plans for DLC to expand upon this.

In a word, yes. The plan is to have a very large selection of heroes, all with a mix of abilities.
